The Euganean Hills host a notoriously rich and interesting flora, which has attracted the attention of botanists since the dawn of this discipline. This is a guide to the identification of wood species (trees, shrubs and liane) present in the Euganean Hills area in the spontaneous state, both the indigenous and the adventitious character, for a total of 214 entities. The list of plants included in the guide is based on the first modern checklist of the vascular plants of the Euganean Hills (Masin & Tietto 2005) and on its subsequent additions (Masin & Tietto 2005; Antonucci & al. 2007; Guiggi & al. 2007; Banzato & al. 2011; Masin & Scartegagna 2011). Thanks to Dr. Alex Guiggi for the revision of the part dedicated to the Opuntia genre (see also Guiggi 2008, 2010).

The guide, also available for mobile tools, was conceived as a help for visitors to the Euganean Colli Park and above all as a didactic tool for Euganeo schools.

It was created in collaboration with the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Trieste and the Biology Department of the University of Padua as part of the SIIT project (interactive tools for the identification of biodiversity: an educational project in a cross-border area), financed as part of the program for cross-border cooperation Italy-Slovenia 2007-2013, from the European Fund of regional development and by the national funds.
